The A19, crossing the Loiret from east to west between Artenay and Courtenay, link the A10 and A6 motorways and have a range of functions :

  • To connect the north-west of France to eastern and southern Europe
  • To be the first major way of bypassing the Paris region
  • To relieve the RN60 between Orléans, Montargis and Courtenay
  • To be a way of bypassing the Orléans district
  • To give the Beauce cereal plains an outlet towards the port of northern Europe
